It's Been A While...

So it's been a while since I posted last even though I vowed to keep up with this! But let's recap what's been happening since then! So get ready, it's a long one with pictures!!

Back Home and Area Marching Contest

We went home for fall break and enjoyed our families. While home I got to finally buy myself an iPhone! Yes!!! I joined in with technology and got the 5 so I'm still learning how to use it but love it so far! I also got to experience my nephews last opportunity to make it to state marching contest (you can only go every other year which he did make and for some weird reason I started tearing up! I guess it's just that I've seen him grow up and I am very attached to my family and I'm very proud of the young man he's becoming.

Here we are in 2008 while he was in middle school with his brother who is now in 8th grade!

Here we are at his dad's wedding in 2010

Levi and I at Area Marching Contest 2012

This past week

This week I celebrated my 23rd birthday and by celbrating I mean we got Taco Bueno after Charles got out of class at 9 p.m. and watched Netflix. This is after I took an educational statistics test that evening! YES so much celebration-but it was low key and I enjoyed staying in with my pup and boo! (didn't take pictures-I forgot!)

This weekend we celebrated homecoming at our  undergrad Alma Mater (current grad school) UCA. We won our game and are now the Southland Conference Champs! But more so than the game we were excited because all of our friends came into town and we got to spend the whole day tailgating and hanging out with my sorority!

Cooking Lately...

So, I'm not entirely sure where I stumbled upon this recipe for a few chocolate chip cookies from here and let me tell you it's so good! I doubled it today because they were toooo delicious to only make 6, even though that's the whole point! I couldn't sleep in late because I'm trained to wake up at 6:57 on fall back day soo..I baked! Well here are my artsy pictures that I always see everyone else post on their blog of their cooking experience! But SERIOUSLY go make these now!

All the ingredients ( I want to do that vanilla paste that the original blogger did though)!

I now have them sitting in this adorable cookie jar that my mom got me for my birthday!

Hamburger/Veggie Soup-Last Week

Last week I made hamburger/veggie soup and it was so delicious for a thrown together little meal.  It was so good that I made a big pot and froze some for later use. The recipe was just a thrown together from my mom and what I had on hand.

It consisted of:
-2lbs of hamburger meat
-large bag of mixed frozen vegetables
-1 can of diced tomatoes (basil and something else)
-small amount of water
-Onion
-Salt and pepper to season

1. Brown your meat, add onions and salt and pepper to season
2. Put in a large pot and add vegetables & tomatoes
3. Only add a little water at a time, we didn't want ours really soupy so we didn't add a whole lot. Let cook for about 20 minutes and check.
4. When it's at the consistency you want, turn it off and eat it up!

*I made a quick homemade cornbread with some cornmeal we had on hand, it went great together.
*Freezing tip-in order to freeze some, let it cool down before you put in an airtight container and refrigerate overnight, the next morning put in freezer and be happy you already have  a meal ready to go!

Menu for Nov. 4th to Nov. 10th

I didn't have a menu last week since we went home on Wednesday, we just threw together whatever or went out =)

Sunday-Stir fry with rice and homemade egg rolls (Charles' parents can make some bomb egg rolls-it inspired our dinner tonight)
Monday- Grilled Cheese and Soup
Tuesday-Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches with onions and peppers
Wednesday- "Panko" bread crumb chicken with steamed carrots and green beans
Thursday- Steak with sweet potatoes and broccoli
Friday- Chicken Alfredo with broccoli and peas
Saturday- We have a wedding reception so we'll eat there!

NOTES
-Oh and our grocery bill this week (including some breakfast items/extras) $34.82!!! YEA pretty good
-We are doing the chicken alfredo using mixed pasta (use what we have) and adding in broccoli and peas for added nutrients.
-Grilled cheese and soup again because we are going to see SHREK the Musical at UCA tomorrow night!!!

That's all until next week!
